The Sacred Flow: Reclaiming the Wisdom of Our Cycles

ree

There is a quiet knowing that lives in every woman’s body — a rhythm older than memory, older than the moon herself. And yet, in the noise of the modern world, we have forgotten how to listen.

For generations, many of us have been taught to suppress our cycles, to hide our emotions, to feel ashamed of our bleeding bodies or apologize for our sensitivity. Especially during our premenstrual phase, we are told we are “too much” — too emotional, too irrational, too reactive. But what if this wasn’t a flaw?

What if it was sacred?

Ancient Wisdom: The Womb as a Portal

Across cultures and centuries, menstruation was once seen as a spiritual force — a time of deep connection to intuition, dreams, and healing. Indigenous North American tribes spoke of "Moon Time," when women retreated to moon lodges for rest and visioning. In ancient Egypt and Tantra, a bleeding woman was believed to hold powerful life-force energy and heightened psychic abilities. In some Vedic traditions, it was a time of withdrawal and inner purification — not because women were “unclean,” but because they were so energetically open.

These cultures didn’t just revere menstruation itself — they also honored the days leading up to it.

Premenstrual Days: The Time Between Worlds

The premenstrual phase — what we now call “PMS” — was often seen as a liminal space, a time when the veil between the conscious and subconscious thins. Emotions swell. Old pain surfaces. And our bodies, wise and faithful, begin to prepare for release.

Mood swings? Fatigue? Weepiness? These are not malfunctions.

They are messages.

The ancient ones understood: this is the body’s way of purging not only the physical but also the emotional and spiritual buildup we carry. It's a sacred detox. A monthly opportunity to shed what no longer serves — physically, mentally, energetically. When honored with compassion, this becomes a built-in healing cycle. When ignored, suppressed, or shamed, it builds into imbalance and disconnection.

A New Way Forward: Flow With It

We don’t need to escape this time. We don’t need to “fix” it. We need to return to it.

Imagine this: what if, during your premenstrual days, you allowed yourself to feel without judgment? To cry when you need to. To rest without guilt. To journal, meditate, or simply be still. What if, during menstruation, you viewed your blood as sacred — not dirty — and allowed your body to be in its full feminine wisdom?

This is not just for spiritual seekers. It’s for every woman who is tired of hiding her truth. It’s for every girl who was told to “suck it up” when her body was in sacred ceremony. And yes — this message is for men too. For too long, our world has worshipped the masculine ideal of constant doing, achieving, producing. But every human carries both feminine and masculine energies. To be whole is to honor both. When men honor the feminine within themselves — their intuition, their stillness, their compassion — they too begin to heal. And when they hold space for the feminine in others, true balance begins.

Channeled Message from the Womb of the Earth

“Beloved child of the moon,

Do not apologize for your emotions. They are the river returning you to yourself.

Each month, you are given a sacred invitation to let go, to feel deeply, to come home to your truth.

Your blood is not a curse — it is a contract with the Divine.

Your moods are not a burden — they are maps leading you to buried treasure.

Honor the rise. Honor the fall. Rest when you must. Create when you can. And know that you

are never broken — only becoming.”

A Gentle Invitation

If you are reading this and feel seen — let this be your soft beginning.

You don’t have to make drastic changes overnight. You can start small:

  • Light a candle for yourself during your bleed.

  • Journal during PMS instead of judging your feelings.

  • Rest more.

  • Say no when your body says no.

  • Take a bath. Cry. Dance. Sleep. Bleed. Heal.

Let this be your new moon practice. Let it be sacred. Let it be yours.

We are not meant to fit into rigid boxes.

We are oceanic. We flow.

And when we honor the flow, we return to our original power.

With so much love,

Solarys
